A cave full of flowers
dance macabre
nature versus concrete
glowing beauty versus decadence
rampant growth savage nature
in wondrous embrace

Audiences are invited into Umbrella’s Vault space to encounter Lynn Scott-Cumming’s rich and immersive installation. Dreams of Verdant Decadence showcases flora and fauna in a variety of fluorescent iterations, exponentially unfurling into the depths of the space. Their fecundity, richness and diversity forms an incongruous counterpoint to the stark architecture of the Vault.

Please note: Dreams of Verdant Decadence is presented in Umbrella’s downstairs Vault space with limited accessibility. One staircase leads to the Vault then there is a step up into the room. Please call Umbrella staff prior to your visit if you would like to discuss your options and arrange a time to access the space via our rear door on Ogden St.

Lynn Scott-Cumming is  is a Townsville-based artist and printmaker. She holds a Master of Creative Arts (Painting and Writing) from James Cook University (JCU) and a Bachelor of Visual Arts (JCU). The artist has run numerous workshops and classes for Umbrella and local arts organisations, including printmaking, writing, painting and sculpture workshops. She has over forty years of experience in the arts (with over thirty years in Townsville), and is a long-standing Umbrella volunteer and member of The Studio.
