Join artists, artisans and stallholders for digitally-mastered light projections, animated smart phone clips, music, food, drink, dances and demonstrations. Discover your hidden talents as you partake in creative activities with the stallholders, including a tissue lantern workshop.
The Twilight ILLUMINATION Nite will also feature the unveiling of the Gudjal Country / Charters Towers community and artist-led project Lizard Tail. Donations will be welcomed by volunteers at the event.
About the Artist
The Mike Carney Creative Industries Centre is a not-for-profit, social-enterprise-driven creative space. The multi-roomed centre is home to a gallery, shop, workshop space and venue for exhibitions, Q&A nights, events, training and activities. The centre provides a safe and stimulating place for creatives, community groups and industry experts to showcase their work and access professional development, training, workshops and meetings. The creatives and organisers identify with the concept that creativity changes lives and communities.

Lantern Making Workshops - Mike Carney Creative Industries Centre
$5 per person (cash only)| children to be accompanied by an adult
10am-2pm Saturday 10 July & Saturday 17 July 2021
Join in the guided production line that allows you to make your own individually decorated finished lantern at your own pace. All materials to make your own lantern will be supplied and on completion of the workshop you'll be ready to create your own amazing lantern at home... as big and bold as you like!
Mike Carney Creative Industries Centre would love to showcase your lantern at the Twilight ILLUMINATIONS Nite event at the centre on Saturday 7 August 2021. They will then me available for your collection from the centre after the end of the event.

Creations Workshop - Mike Carney Creative Industries Centre

This workshop will cover basic video production/photography knowledge and explore stop motion animation using your smartphone. The workshop is intended for everyone aged 16+ to explore their interests and animate their work into a video. Attendees can enhance their creations through lighting, video/photos, and/or stop motion animation. Create something new to promote on social media (eg animate pottery to create a short video to share on social media instead of a still photo). To maximise learning, participants should bring their own smart phone, with the FREE "Stop Motion Studio'' app already installed (available for Apple or Android), and a tripod with phone tripod adapter (if you have one).
