Join professional jeweller Eschelle Walters to craft your own sterling silver ring in The Studio. This class introduces essential silversmithing skills, including measuring, forming and soldering a ring shank, pickling, filing and sanding. Attendees have the option to use tools such as a hammer, brass brush or diamond burr to create a textured look or use a tumbler to achieve a polished finish.

This workshop is suitable for beginners or participants with some silversmithing experience. The width of the ring bands made will be approximately 5mm. Class sizes are small to enable one-on-one teaching, so book early to ensure your spot!

Eschelle Walters is a professional jeweller based in Gurambilbarra / Townsville. She creates unique bespoke commissions for her clients in a range of precious metals and stones. From sentimental and special occasion rings, pendants, earrings, and bracelets, to the repair and restoration of beloved antiques. Eschelle is passionate about all areas of jewellery from faceting the raw gemstones, to recycling metal and repurposing heirloom pieces. She is inspired by the natural beauty, colours, and geometry of our world.

Please note that participants will be working with micro motors for extended periods of time, and that jewellery-making requires looking at small objects closely. There will also be supervised use of a gas blowtorch. A Workshop Access Requirements Form will need to be completed prior to the workshop day. Attendees must wear closed in shoes, tie their hair back and bring vision correcting glasses if they are normally worn. Umbrella will provide each participant with safety glasses and a P2 rated mask.

There will be a 30-minute lunch break during this workshop. Umbrella has a refrigerator and microwave available for use, and tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day.
