Session #4 Artistic Collaborations
Artistic Collaborations
Held live online 12:30-1:30pm (Brisbane time zone) Friday 4 December 2020
For our fourth Creative Industries session, Umbrella was joined by guest panelists to discuss their experiences and provide insights and tips for approaching artistic collaborations and working collaboratively. This is an invaluable resource for artists in North Queensland and Australia-wide. Lynnette Griffiths, Racy Oui-Pitt and Marion Gaemers spoke about their collaborative projects and exhibitions. Lynette and Racy both work for Erub Arts, a Torres Strait Island art centre of national and international acclaim. Their collaborations are featured as a case study in Protocols for using First Nations Cultural and Intellectual Property in the Arts. Daniel Qualischefski (Danish Quapoor) spoke about his previous collaborations and about curating the recent collaborative SICs Degrees exhibition at Murky Waters Studio in Townsville. He was joined by SICs Degrees exhibiting artists Karri McPherson and Joeli Eastell to discuss their experiences. The session lasted approximately 1 hour and included audience questions.
