Yunbenun / Magnetic Island

Art & Studio Tours with an Ocean View

Discover stories of Yunbenun / Magnetic Island with an exclusive PUNQ Tour that transcends mere sightseeing. Celebrate the island’s vibrant local art scene on this curated journey through lush tropical landscapes, exhibitions, studios and place-based commissioned works. Connect with the soul of Yunbenun, its rich stories, and the voices of its passionate creatives.

Each tour will feature two major PUNQ commissioned installations which overlook the water of the picturesque Picnic Bay. Visit the bodily pink forms of Pulse by Squeak & Bubble, and the enticing Illuminated Waters giant octopus by Jo Stacey.  Meet local artists Hannah Aiello and Madonna Caffery at The Jungle Club Creative Studio. Peruse, purchase or even commission your own unique artwork and get a sneak peek into works-in-progress. While there, explore artist Dyana Rogers’ Works from the Studio exhibition of dramatic, gestural and colourful oil paintings.

Witness the Lost and Found exhibition by Yunbenun-based artists Julie Woodlock, Zerowaste Collective, Zoltan Szirom, Sarah Treadwell, Peter Jackson, Jenni Smith, Andy Frost, Mardi Sakers and Linda Davis. These artists reflect and explore environmental themes and concerns in their captivating works. Afterwards, see the environmental impact firsthand at Horseshoe Bay Lagoon Conservation Park, where high tides and increased salination threaten the Melaleucas trees.

Other stops include the Island Style exhibition by artists Sharon and Steve Crowe, and Jan Malkin and Lawrence Scheele's home gallery. Malkin and Scheele contribute to a collaborative art project amongst their What a Load of Rubbish and Above & Beyond exhibitions. Take home unique handmade gifts, home decor, tropical clothing and jewellery at Peter Stein’s gallery The Island Living Art Space, before a thought-provoking encounter with the Tree Stories installation by Nora Gigney, Chloe Watfern and Sara Cole.

Conclude your tour by savouring the island's freshest flavours at Stuffed on Seafood (meal not included in ticket price). You will leave with your heart, soul and stomach full, having enjoyed exceptional art, seascapes and a delicious local meal.

Tour times and itineraries vary depending on the date of your booking so please read closely before selecting.
