Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of North Queensland art at the home studio and gallery of Sharon and Steve Crowe. This unique exhibition, aptly titled Island Style, grants visitors an exclusive opportunity to explore the artistic vision of the Crowe’s.

Steve Crowe's passion lies in capturing the breathtaking landscapes and seascapes of the region. His bold style utilises vigorous brushstrokes and large brushes, imbuing his paintings with a sense of raw energy and movement. Prepare to be transported to the windswept beaches and dramatic coastlines of North Queensland.

Sharon Crowe draws inspiration from her deep connection to Yunbenun / Magnetic Island. Her artistic focus centres on the captivating wildlife and stunning environment of North Queensland. Through a stylistic technique, Sharon reimagines these elements, offering a fresh perspective on the familiar.

Island Style promises an intimate experience, allowing you to directly engage with the art and the artists themselves. Step into the Crowes' creative haven and discover the essence of North Queensland captured through their unique artistic lens.

About The Artist

Born in Nipaluna / Hobart Tasmania, Steve Crowe studied art at the Domain Art School in Hobart. Early in his career he worked as a Graphic Designer for television and the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS). He taught Graphic Design at Townsville TAFE and been involved in the North Queensland Flying Arts program running workshops on Palm Island and Bowen district schools.

Steve has won numerous awards including: 2007 Townsville Strand Ephemera (Sculpture) People’s Choice Award, in collaboration with his partner Sharon and artist Anna Mango, overall winner of The Cloncurry Art Awards 2023 and TAS Art Awards 2022

Born in Gurambilbarra / Townsville, Sharon Crowe has a close affinity with Magnetic Island. She works in Oils and Acrylics. She has worked in the arts industry all her life – as a publications illustrator, textile designer and visual artist.

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Visual arts from James Cook University.  In 2007 through a collaboration with her partner Steve and Burdekin artist Anna Mango, they won the Strand Ephemera People's Choice Award for the work Drifter. She has exhibited in numerous art galleries in Australia and her work is in private collections both here and overseas.

Venue Accessibility

The entrance has a one-step down from the pathway leading into the Studio/Gallery, followed by a one-step up into the building. This may pose a challenge for visitors using wheelchairs.

Parking: The driveway can be used for accessible drop-off and pick-up. There is also street parking available nearby.
