Wood lithography (Mokulito) Masterclass
20 October, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 21 October, 2018 @ 4:00 pm| See below for prices
Mokulito’ means ‘wood lithography’ and is a print technique developed in the 1970’s by Ozaku Schisi and more recently by Ewa Budka. This workshop explores the wonderfully simple technique of Mokulito, a process by which one can draw an image on a plywood matrix and print from it. It uses the same principles as stone and metal plate lithography without acids, etches or turpentine. The image can be added to, subtracted from, carved into and coloured with water colour or printing inks. The image lies somewhere between lithography and woodblock printing and can be a combination of both. The advantage of this method of printmaking is that it is cost effective and that the plates are printed on a standard etching press. Suitable for beginners and experienced printmakers.
What to Bring:
- Support material like drawings or sketches or photographs to work with
- Willow Charcoal
- Sandpaper: 2 sheets of wet and dry 400 and 600
All other materials such as the wood, paper, ink and lithographic tools will be provided for workshop.
