Umbrella is delighted to host The Print Council of Australia‘s Print Commission 2020, a significant print exhibition alongside our own Compact Prints exhibition. The exhibition features six new works by contemporary artists (chosen from close to a hundred applications). Now in its 54th year, the Print Commission continues to foster the creation of new work in print media and the development of Australian printmaking. It also provides Australia’s best opportunity to start and grow a museum quality collection of contemporary works on paper, and is an important fundraiser for the PCA. Major public institutions and private collectors across the country and internationally subscribe to the Print Commission to build their collections, and all PCA members can purchase prints at discounted rates.

The artists featured in this years commission are Silvi Glattauer (Vic); Rhi Johnson (QLD); Joanna Kambourian (NSW); AHC McDonald (WA); Daniel O’Shane (QLD); and Sheyne Tuffery (New Zealand). The artworks have been launched online here and the exhibition will be on display 2 October – 15 November 2020.

How to order
An Order Form for the Print Commission 2020 is enclosed in the current issue of Imprint or can be downloaded from the Print Council website printcouncil.org.au. All forms should be emailed or posted to the PCA no later than Sunday 31 October, 2020. Print orders are allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so don’t delay in placing your order to ensure you receive your top selections. The prints will be packed and sent out to subscribers in November 2020.

The Print Council thanks the judges for 2020, Jazmina Cininas, Artist and Lecturer in Printmaking and Book Arts at RMIT, and Rona Green, Artist; thanks their sponsors, Arthouse Direct and Magnani 1404; and thanks this year’s artists for their fantastic contributions to the long running program.
