Digital Experiences Call-Out

While we are physically distancing at Umbrella Studio, we want to continue collaborating with the local arts community and provide opportunities for creativity, creative innovation, arts development and income generation. The first major opportunity we are offering will enable artists and art professionals to develop and deliver a digital program that effectively engages with Umbrella’s (and the wider North Queensland area) audience. The program will be delivered in three streams:
1. Creative KIDS – online artist led experiences targeted at the 3 – 11+ year old demographic.
2. Creative SPARKS – artist-led experiences that excite and innovate.
3. Creative INDUSTRIES – read more at the link.

Umbrella is calling for local artist submissions for both Creative KIDS and Creative SPARKS.  We are seeking exciting proposals that offer new directions and pathways for participants. Digital experience program examples include (but are not limited to) webinars, videos, interactive programs / games, Instagram live engagement, workshops with new technology or ideas, artist talks that share an exciting new development in your practice, virtual reality exhibitions and social media takeovers. When possible, it is expected that the experiences will be documented in such a way to make them accessible to audiences beyond the initial delivery.  E.g. projects presented live may be turned into videos or podcasts.

Chosen applicants will be paid $100 per hour capped at $500 including art materials and preparation for the project. Applicants must live within the North Queensland region and be current members of Umbrella Studio. Proposals should consider the challenges of the current COVID-19 physcial-distancing situation and outline a proposed allocation of this budget. You are limited only by your creativity, skills, the budget and timeline. Submissions will be reviewed against the criteria of innovation, viability, impact, reach and need. In terms of need, please outline within your proposal if you have lost significant work or income due to COVID-19.  We welcome you to contact us to discuss your ideas and proposals before you submit via the form below.
