Alison McDonald creates jewellery with environmental consideration, specializing up-cycling. Alison transforms materials from everyday life into precious jewellery and combines these materials with sterling silver.
This piece is hand cut from a reused reflective aluminium road sign with the addition of sterling silver hooks.

About the artist
Originally from Victoria and an artistic family Alison McDonald is now a Townsville based artist who integrates her
passions of recycling and the environment in her sculpture and jewellery. Diverse and everyday materials are utilised in her
work and play their part in conveying her intended connotations. The work invites the viewer to consider why the art
forms are made of what they are. Her work is shown in group exhibitions in local, national and international, including
Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, 6 Strand Ephemera’s, Royal North Shore Hospital and Visy Education Centre and
Monterey Bay Aquarium, California. McDonald completed her BVA (Hons) in sculpture and painting from JCU,
then Masters in Art in Public Space at RMIT. She has also been artist in residence twice in Beijing and once in
in Aberystwyth, Wales. Now McDonald teaches sculpture at TAFE.
