Artist Collective RUN has had a strong connection to Umbrella since the collaborative launch of TAG in July 2007. Over the past year, the group of 5 artists have completed numerous art projects, including the development of their ‘Space’ (host to openings, bands, DJs and more), workshops at Umbrella, Pinnacles, Cleveland and Vincent State School, and their own street artworks, such as the wall at the back of Umbrella.

RUN was successful in getting Arts Queensland funding under the Artist Run Initiative scheme. This funding will be used to produce “Tonight We RUN”, a multi-faceted street-art exhibition that will officially launch the Artist Collective RUN. Umbrella’s Car Park will provide the ultimate canvas for this street exhibition. Over five months, aerosol art will be applied over more than 200m2 of wall. Over the course of the exhibition’s creation, the car park will be transformed into a dynamic space where everybody will be encouraged to come along and watch the artists work, chill out and share thoughts on life.

There will also be workshops throughout the course of the exhibition’s creation. The creation process will start in December 2008 and culminate in a grand opening on 27 March 2009.
