We would like to introduce you to experience contemporary art at Umbrella Studio as a venue to consider when organising your next conference or event in Townsville.

Located in the heart of Townsville city the Umbrella Studio can arrange art workshops and innovative activities for your group.

Our stunning gallery boasts traditional-modern fixtures and furnishings, comfortable meeting facilities all walking distance to most hotels in Townsville CBD, this all makes a great combination for a perfect venue for your next event.

We have a range of options available catering for the various needs of the group whether social, networking, educational, and training or simply team building. In all cases, we take care of all the details of the day. As an optional extra we can provide door to door transport from your hotel to our venue.

Hire of our venue includes use of the following facilities and equipment:

• Main and Access Space floor area (standing space for up to 150 people).
• Up to 60 chairs.
• Access to upper level kitchen.
• Free exhibition tours from gallery staff if required (during opening hours)

Our venue is open to the public from 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am -1pm Sunday. Functions may be booked at these times providing public access to the gallery space is not restricted. Most evening and Saturday bookings guarantee complete privacy while using our venue.

Studio Downstairs

Studio Downstairs is available to artists, curators and community groups for short-term residencies, workshops, meetings and classes.

The space is conveniently located in the city, near public transport with ample street parking, as well as access for deliveries. It is equipped with limited storage for art, sculpture and works on paper as well as amenities such as a toilet and a small kitchenette. Studio Downstairs has a resource library with computer access and a printer in a comfortable and quiet environment.

Umbrella Studio invites exhibition proposals from established and emerging contemporary visual artists and curators seeking to present new and original work in a professional gallery environment.

Umbrella Studio operates four exhibition spaces: the Main Space, Access Space, the Vault and the Stairway. Different terms and conditions apply for the use of each of these spaces, as set out in the Exhibition Space Details page.

Umbrella Studio accepts exhibition proposals throughout the year, and a Program Sub-committee assesses these twice yearly in April and October. Emailed and faxed proposals will not be accepted. Successful applicants will receive a letter detailing their exhibition arrangements.

Umbrella Studio strongly supports emerging artists and the social and cultural diversity of the North Queensland region, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
