I began my investigation of Confessional Art due to an obsession with the constant search for the self. I have always believed that art should be about life, even though the concept of life can be stretched far enough to encompass the death of an ant, the existence of a god or the importance of spilt beer.
It is my belief that these sort of intimate exclamations draw people closer to art on an emotional level that was previously unattainable. Although my work may lack the controversy and shock of some Confessional Art. I believe it is a glimpse into my own life and mind.
Whilst making the work for The Seventh Noir. I questioned my past, my present and my future constantly. I cannot yet say whether or not is has been a healthy experience and I believe this balance between normality and abnormality is reflected in my work. I hope that through my work, I may find a place in the world, and perhaps an affinity with other human beings.
